For Dr. Onyekachukwu Osakwe, pediatric cardiology is more than a specialty—it is a calling centered on helping children and families navigate some of life's most vulnerable moments with clarity, compassion, and hope.

Since completing his fellowship training at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Osakwe has dedicated his career to advancing thoughtful, evidence-based heart care for children across Mississippi. Known for his calm presence, attention to detail, and collaborative approach, he believes the best care begins with listening—to families, to children, and to the stories behind every diagnosis.

Over the years, Dr. Osakwe has cared for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of heart conditions, from murmurs and chest pain to congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, Kawasaki disease, syncope, dyslipidemia, and sports-related cardiac concerns. His clinical interests also include advanced non-invasive imaging and preventive cardiology.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Osakwe has served in leadership and academic roles focused on improving patient experience, expanding access to specialty care, and advancing innovation in pediatric cardiology. He has contributed to research, imaging protocols, pulmonary hypertension programs, quality improvement initiatives, and educational efforts aimed at improving outcomes for children and families.

Today, as part of the leadership of Mississippi Children's Heart Clinic, Dr. Osakwe is helping shape a practice built around accessibility, trust, collaboration, and modern pediatric heart care—bringing together advanced expertise with a warm, personal experience for families throughout Mississippi.

A graduate of the University of Benin College of Medicine, Dr. Osakwe also earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Florida before completing pediatric residency training at the University of Florida and fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He is board-certified in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Osakwe enjoys tennis, reading, innovation in healthcare technology, and spending time outdoors. He values meaningful relationships with patients, families, referring providers, and the broader Mississippi community he is proud to serve.
