For more than four decades, Dr. David S. Braden has dedicated his career to caring for children and adolescents with heart conditions across Mississippi and the surrounding region. Known for his thoughtful, patient-centered approach, he has built lasting relationships with generations of families who value his expertise, compassion, and clinical judgment.
Dr. Braden is highly experienced in the diagnosis and management of both congenital and acquired heart disease, as well as heart murmurs, sports cardiology, and preventive care. He is especially well known for his expertise in dysautonomia and POTS, and developed a dedicated pediatric POTS program focused on comprehensive, individualized care and education.
A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Dr. Braden earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his pediatric residency in Mississippi, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia.
He has held numerous academic and clinical leadership roles, served as a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy Medical Corps, and has been recognized for his dedication to pediatric care, including receiving the Holliman Award for outstanding service at Children's Hospital.
In 2012, Dr. Braden founded Mississippi Children's Heart Clinic with a vision of providing compassionate, high-quality care in a personal and accessible setting. Under his leadership, the clinic has grown into a trusted resource for families and referring providers across the state.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Braden enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, and their four children.
